Each instrument follows a carefully structured and progressive grade system suited to its unique playing technique, musical role, and performance requirements.
The grade examination helps learners develop essential skills such as shruti alignment, swara knowledge, raga understanding, tala proficiency, laya control, fingering techniques, breath control, bowing, plucking, rhythmic precision, musical expression, listening ability, stage discipline, and performance confidence, according to the selected instrument.
For melodic instruments such as the Violin, Veena, Keyboard, and Flute, students are guided through swara exercises, geethams, varnams, kritis, raga-based compositions, tala understanding, improvisational skills, and stage presentation.
For the Mridangam, the syllabus and evaluation are adapted to develop rhythmic knowledge, sollukattu, basic strokes, fingering techniques, nadai, korvai, mora, tala accompaniment, laya control, and performance presentation.
